Jared Goedert leads homer parade as Columbus outmuscles Buffalo: Minor League Report

Akron hangs on, beats Altoona, Kyle Blair's scoreless relief effort sparks Carolina, Lake County rolls past Dayton, Andrew Davis' two hits can't rescue Lake Erie.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 9, Bisons 1: CF Ezequiel Carrera (.258), 2B Cord Phelps (.260) and RF Jared Goedert (.280) homered as host Columbus cruised past Buffalo (N.Y). in an International League contest Friday. Clippers LHP Chris Seddon (7-3, 3.59 ERA) allowed one run, six hits and one walk in 7 innings. He struck out seven. Columbus LF Tim Fedroff (.571) had three hits and two RBI.

AA Akron Aeros

Aeros 8, Curve 7: RF Ben Copeland (.200) had two hits and three RBI as host Akron held off Altoona (Pa.) in Eastern League play. Aeros DH Michel Hernandez (.319) knocked in two runs. RHP Paolo Espino (3.33) allowed two runs in six innings but got a no-decision. RHP Kyle Landis (3-1, 2.03) earned the victory with a scoreless eighth inning.

Advanced A Carolina Mudcats

Mudcats 5, Pelicans 1: 2B Tony Wolters (.235) had two hits and two RBI, RF Carlos Moncrief (.243) homered and RHP Kyle Blair (4-1, 4.80) pitched five scoreless innings of relief as host Carolina won a Carolina League contest against Myrtle Beach (S.C.).

A Lake County Captains

Captains 14, Dragons 6: RF Jordan Smith (.293) drove in four runs with two doubles, and 3B Leonardo Castillo (.184) and 2B Robel Garcia (.212) each had two hits and two RBI as Lake County won a Midwest League contest in Dayton. CF Luigi Rodriguez (.285) and LF Todd Hankins (.231) each had three hits for the Captains.

Independent Lake Erie Crushers

Grizzlies 3, Crushers 2: SS Andrew Davis (.276) singled, doubled and drove in a run, but host Lake Erie lost a Frontier League contest against Gateway (Ill.).
