Peer keen to impress

Shahar Peer will be looking to get over her disappointment at the Australian Open by steering Israel to victory in the Federation Cup.

Peer tumbled out in the second round in Melbourne, going down 6-1, 6-2 against 14th seed Sabine Lisicki of Germany. She said: "I'm going to have to work a lot harder to play a higher level game."

Peer (34) and Julia Glushko (210) will come up against Britons Elena Baltacha (54) and Anne Keothavong (73) in the third match of a group that includes Portugal and Holland, starting on Wednesday in Eilat.

Peer said: "I hope that a large crowd comes out to cheer us on. We will need the support if we want to beat Britain."

Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich lost to world no. 1 pairing Bob and Mike Bryan in the first round in Melbourne.
