Morning Call: Wet and windy - Gales in south, Jun 22 - 06:06

Wet and windy with gales Good morning, Serous rainfall totals are expected today across northwest England, southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland. With heavy periods of rain expected to last through much of today rainfall totals could exceed 3-inches in some parts of northwest England and southwest Scotland by the end of the day.

Across Wales and southern England the wind will be the main weather feature. This is going to be reaching severe gale force with gusts of over 50mph. With trees in full leaf and the ground already sodden there is the threat of trees being uprooted and so extra care will be needed whether driving or walking.

Conditions should improve slowly through tonight and into Saturday, although there will still be rain in the north through Saturday.

Have a great day. Simon me at simon.keeling@weatheronline.co.uk
