Top DJ opens 40th Fayre

A big name DJ on the Ibiza club scene is opening the first night of the 40th Draycott Strawberry Fayre.

Miss Divine, perhaps better known in the village as former resident Sam Craddock, is swapping her monthly residencies in Miami, Naples and Geneva for a night in a marquee on the memorial field on Friday, June 10.

On why she's playing at Draycott, she said: "It's a project my dad has been involved with for many years – and he said I had to play!

"It's not about the size or reputation of a club it's about creating a vibe, connecting with the people and having fun. I have very fond memories of Draycott from when I was a child so I'm really excited about playing there this year."

She became the first woman to join record label Defected and for the past four years has run her own charity event, La Vita – raising 25,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer after losing three family members to cancer.

But if the latest house tunes are not your thing, then Saturday night sees Roy G Hemmings bring his Dictionary of Soul Show featuring Motown classics at the Fayre Do dinner.

As one of the longest-serving former members of legendary group The Drifters, Roy worked alongside founder Johnny Moore for more than ten years.

Then on Sunday the Strawberry Fayre will be opened at 1pm with a presentation of the Strawberry Queen and her Princesses by Glastonbury Festival's Michael Eavis.

There will be lots of stalls with plenty to do.
