Trousers falling down led to theft

A SHOPLIFER stole a belt because her trousers were falling down, a court heard.

Emma Bray of Paxton Street, Swansea committed the theft at BhS in Oxford Street on February 16.

Swansea magistrates heard the 36-year-old was witnessed to pick up a belt from the display and put it up her sleeve, when the incident was captured on CCTV.

Last month Bray, who is currently subject to a community order was given a 12 month conditional discharge for an unrelated matter.

The court heard that Bray said she snatched the belt on impulse "because her trousers were falling down".

She was fined 50 with a 15 victim surcharge but magistrates ruled that her time spent in custody would be taken in lieu of payment.
