Indians 7, Blue Rocks 5: 3B Tyler Cannon (.254) was a homer shy of the cycle, scored twice and drove in two runs to lead the K-Tribe past Wilmington (Del.) in the Carolina League game in Kinston, N.C.
Strongsville grad LF Anthony Gallas (.211) drove in a run for Kinston with his 10th double of the season.
AAA Columbus Clippers
IronPigs 4, Clippers 0: Three Lehigh Valley pitchers held Columbus to two singles and the IronPigs won the International League game Sunday in Allentown, Pa.
Righty Joe Martinez (6-4, 4.10) threw six innings, allowing three runs (all earned) on eight hits. He walked none and fanned six.
CF Tim Fedroff (.271) and 1B Nick Johnson (.208) singled for Columbus.
AA Akron Aeros
SeaWolves 4, Aeros 3: Akron RH closer Cory Burns (2-4, 2.79) allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth and the Aeros lost the Eastern League game in Erie, Pa.
Akron had taken a 3-2 lead in the eighth on Chun Chen's three-run homer. Chen (.281) has 11 homers and 51 RBI on the season.
Aeros RF Matt McBride had two hits to raise his average to .296.
A Lake County Captains
Captains 6, Kernels 1: Felix Sterling, an 18-year-old right-hander, pitched six sharp innings in his Lake County debut to lead the Captains past visiting Cedar Rapids (Iowa) in a Midwest League game in Eastlake.
Sterling (1-0, 1.50) allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks. He struck out two. Sterling (6-3, 200) signed with the Indians as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in November 2009.
3B Giovanny Urshela (.238) had three hits and LF Brian Heere (.252) had two hits and two RBI for the Captains.
A Mahoning Valley Scrappers
Renegades 6, Scrappers 0: Mahoning Valley managed just three singles and lost the New York-Penn League game to Hudson Valley in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. RH Will Roberts (0-1, 4.66) allowed four runs (all earned) in the first inning.
Independent Lake Erie Crushers
Crushers 15, Wild Things 5: Lake Erie scored 11 runs in the seventh inning and hammered host Washington (Pa.) in Frontier League play.
LF Kellen Kulbacki (.303) had four hits, including his third homer of the season to lead the Crushers' offense.
