UK Forecast: Rain in southeast - Colder, showery north, Nov 30 - 17:37

Thursday A front is going to be lingering around southeast England through today. This brings cloud and some spots of rain in the morning, but the rain then turning more persistent and heavier in the middle to later part of the afternoon. Brighter conditions over the rest of England and Wales, although some showers affecting western coasts. A windier day in northern Scotland with the risk of gales here and some heavy snow showers. Further sleet and snow showers for western and northern coasts of Scotland, but the south should be drier and brighter. A mainly fair day for Northern Ireland, although some showers on northern coasts. Highs at 5C in Scotland, 12C in the far southeast of England.

Thursday Night Some hefty periods of rain across the far southeast tonight, these easing later. Some heavy showers in western and southern Wales, these arriving into southwest England after midnight. Scattered wintry showers for northern England and Scotland. Drier elsewhere with some clearer skies and temperatures falling quickly to give a slight frost. Lows at -4C in central Scotland, 2C in southern England.

Friday A weak ridge of high pressure builds through the country on Friday. This brings a chilly but fair start to the day with some reasonable spells of sunshine. Cloud is going to be increasing in the west as a warm front moves into Ireland in the afternoon. This brings thickening cloud and periods of rain to Ireland and western Scotland with the winds increasing too. Highs at 6 to 8C.

Saturday Low pressure is north of Scotland on Saturday. A breezy day through all parts of the country with a cold front across southern Ireland, Wales and England where there could be some heavy periods of rain too. Brighter to the north with sunshine and showers, these falling as sleet and snow over Scotland with wintry showers over the hills of northern England and Ireland. Highs at 5 to 7C behind the front, 12C in the far south.
