European Summary: Fine across the Mediterranean - Hot Eastern Europe, May 04 - 06:06

Heavy Showers, Thunderstorms for Iberia Today Windy and very unsettled across Portugal and Spain today with plenty of heavy showers with the risk of thunder or longer spells of rain. From the Balearics up through southern parts of France, across Sardinia and Corsica and through Italy and Greece. Fine as well across western parts of Turkey with sunny spells but expect some scattered, heavy showers across eastern parts of Turkey. A number of heavy showers are also expected across the Alps, across Austria through the Czech Republic and up into Poland and some of these could be thundery. Fine and dry across the former Yugoslavia. Apart from a few showers in the north of Germany. It looks like a dry day with sunny spells. Lots of heavy showers are in the forecast for central and northern parts of France, these extending up into Belgium and Holland. A very cold, windy and cold day to come across Scandinavia with heavy outbreaks of snow across Norway and northern parts of Sweden with rain in the south. Apart from a few showers. It looks dry across Finland today. Fine and sunny today as well across much of Russia, the Ukraine and Belarus with some rain reaching the Baltic States late in the day.

Saturday An area of rain is expected across Germany into Holland, Belgium and northern parts of France into the channel. Across central and southern France along with most of Spain and Portugal, expect frequent and heavy showers with the risk of thunder. Perhaps the far east of Spain will remain dry with one or two scattered showers around the Balearics. From Corsica, Sardinia up through Italy into Greece, expect a dry day with lots of sunshine. More unsettled across Turkey with some heavy showers. Continued very warm to hot across much of eastern Europe. Lots of warm sunshine today come across the former Yugoslavia and the Czech Republic but high temperatures will trigger quite a few heavy showers across Romania, the Ukraine into Belarus and the Baltic States. Another area of more persistent rain is expected across Finland and Russia today with gales through the Baltic Sea. Much colder across Norway and Sweden today with heavy snow while rain showers are forecast for southern parts of Sweden. Mainly dry today across Denmark and the Poland. Heavy showers are expected across the Alps into Austria.
