Week ahead: Unseasonably Cold Weekend - Continued Showery, May 02 - 08:24

Widespread Frosts at Times Overall the weather is likely to remain unsettled with low pressure in control giving showers most days to most areas. By night turns clear and cold, allowing frosts to form. Towards the end of the forecast, we expect high pressure to take charge of the weather as it turns dry. For the weather for the next few days click here Saturday 05/05/12 A cold day to come across the country. Any early rain in the extreme southern coastal counties of England should soon clear. Overall it's a day of cloud, sunny spells and scattered showers. A few the showers are likely to be wintry over the high ground of Scotland and northern England. Dry, clear and cold over night with a widespread frost. Expect highs of 7 to 9C.

Sunday 06/05/12 Quite cold across the country to start the day. Another unsettled and rather cold day to come with a mixture of sunny intervals and occasional showers, again some wintry over the Highlands. Another cold night with a frost in many areas. Highs of 8 to 11C.

Monday 07/05/12 After a dry, bright morning with sunny spells, cloud and scattered showers are likely to develop and these become a bit more widespread in heavy some areas in the afternoon. Most places will be dry and cold again tonight with a frost. Expect highs of 11 to 13C.

Tuesday 08/05/12 Today most of the showers are likely to be across Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England and Wales, some may be heavy in the north. Most of central, southern England should be mainly dry with quite a bit of cloud and a few brighter sunny intervals. Tonight some rain may threaten the far south of England with a is one for Scotland. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 12C.

Wednesday 09/05/12 Any early rain in the far southeast of England will soon clear way, but for much of the country will see showers again developing later this morning continuing into the afternoon. Top temperatures of 9 to 13C. Thursday 10/05/12 With high pressure now dominating the country, it should be a dry day to come across most areas with sunny spells after some morning fog clears. Expect highs of 9 to 13C.
