Another Jewish player has slipped into the SPL almost unnoticed. I've heard good things about Myles Anderson, son of football agent Jerome, who joins Nick Blackman at Aberdeen, and they should thrive under the watchful eye of Aberdeen manager Craig Brown and his assistant Archie Knox.
It's a case of friends reunited for Anderson and Blackman who were GB teammates at the 2005 Maccabiah Games. Blackburn striker Blackman has fired 11 goals during loan spells with Motherwell and Aberdeen while Anderson made his debut in the recent match against Kilmarnock. Anderson also featured in a pre-season friendly for Blackburn's first team last year and has agreed a to sign for Rovers on July 1.
Israel international Biram Kayal has been making waves at Celtic, but he was unable to stop Rangers from taking the first major piece of silverware at the CIS final. Indeed the only thing Kayal collected was a yellow card.
? Faithfold A stand in the way of North West Neasden A and an appearance in a fourth consecutive Peter Morrison Trophy final on Sunday. It's been a tough season for Jamie Cole's men but the manager is confident the team will clinch its place in the May 15 showpiece.
Zuriel Solomon, manager of Faithfold, must fill the void left by cup-tied striker Mike Pearson but having overcome Premier Division leaders Redbridge Jewish Care A in the last round, he said: "You can't write Neasden off but my boys will be on it. It should be a great game with two top teams competing."
? Several familiar faces from the MSFL will be on show at a charity match between a Daniel Newman XI and a Spurs Legends XI. On one team will be Spurs old boys Ian Walker, Paul Allen, Clive Wilson and Mark Falco. The line-up in memory of Spurs fan Dan Newman includes Chigwell Athletic trio Richard Slater, Darren Kay and Daniel Castle, plus Danny Sugarman, Marc Silver, Grant Pomeroy and Steve Summers of Redbridge Jewish Care, along with Faithfold captain Alex Levack. The match at Ware FC will raise funds for CRY (Cardiac risk in the young). MSFL referee Keith Gold will officiate with Richard Bronzite, manager of Redbridge Jewish Care C, one of his assistants.
? Nigel Kyte will referee this weekend's University of London Union Challenge Cup final. Kyte will take charge of the match featuring UCL 1sts and Imperial College 1sts in Roehampton.
Congratulations go to two other MSFL officials. Gary Silver, the two-time Referee of the Year, has been promoted to a Level 5 official. Warwick Blake, the top ref last year, has also won a promotion.
