Winning winker Sarah has the eye for a prize

THIS is not just any old wink — it is an award-winning wink.

A Swansea University student has picked up the title of best wink in Britain — and now her friends keep asking her to demonstrate it.

Twenty-one year old Sarah Hackman scooped the luscious lashes title in an online competition.

History student Sarah said: "I saw an advert for the contest on Facebook and thought it would be fun to enter.

"I had to record a short video of myself winking and then send it off.

"It was only a bit of fun and I didn't think I would win.

"A month later I got an email saying I had won.

"At first I thought it was one of those dodgy phishing emails telling me I had won something, but then I got a phone call as well — I was shocked to have won."

The winning winker came first in a competition organised by make-up brand Boots No7.

More than 300 people — both men and women — submitted videos for the contest, which ran during January and February.

As well as the national eye title, Sarah also won a trip to London for a stay in a hotel and spa, along with afternoon tea and cocktails.

Lisa Eldridge, creative consultant with No7, said the student was a worthy winner.

She said: "I love Sarah's wink because it is full of confidence with an element of cheeky flirtation.

"Her eye make-up emphasises her wink to perfection, which is why I think she has the best wink."

Funny

Sarah, who hopes to go to Hong Kong to teach English after she graduates from university this summer, said her friends thought her winking victory was funny.

"My friends keep asking me to wink — but I keep telling them no," she said.

"I entered for a bit of fun, and all my friends think it is funny that I won."
