UK Forecast: Cold, cloudy start - Becoming brighter, Apr 26 - 16:00

Wednesday A chilly start to Wednesday morning, even though we will be under the influence of an area of high pressure centred to the northeast of Scotland. Cloud is going to be broken with a few bright or sunny spells coming through, the best of the sunshine across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Cloud continues to break into the afternoon with all places being dry. There will be sunny spells for most as well. Best of the sunshine for the afternoon across Scotland and eastern parts of England. Highs at 12C in northern Scotland, 18C in southern England.

Wednesday Night After a fine evening for most with good spells of sunshine, cloud will be creeping back onto eastern coasts if England and Scotland by midnight. This cloud then blows westwards on the northeast wind to be affecting much of southern and central England, northeast England and southeast Scotland by the morning, perhaps producing a few spots of drizzle in the east. More western areas stay dry and clear. A cold night under the clear skies with a touch of frost, lows of 0C, but hold to 4C under the cloud.

Thursday A cloudy and chilly start to the morning on Thursday over most of England and parts of southeast Scotland. A few spots of drizzle on eastern coasts, but this should clear as the cloud breaks through the morning, allowing some sunny spells to come through. The best of the sunshine throughout the day will be across Scotland, western England and Wales as well as the north and east of Ireland. A brisk northeast wind affecting eastern coasts. Highs of 11C on cloudier eastern coasts, 18C in the sunshine over western Scotland and southern England.

Friday Plenty of cloud again on Friday morning over much of England and Wales, together with southeast Scotland. There could be a few spots of drizzle from the cloud in the morning, although this is going to be breaking a little into the afternoon, although not as readily as on Wednesday. The best sunshine will again be through much of Scotland and Ireland, with some sunny spells for west Wales and western England too. Tops at 15C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England.
