Columbus Clippers' Ryan Rohlinger hits grand slam in win: Minor League Report

The Akron Aeros, Lake County Captains and Lake Erie Crushers also win on Wednesday.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 13, Mud Hens 3 Columbus 2B Ryan Rohlinger (.429) had three hits, including a grand slam, 1B Matt LaPorta (.313) had three hits and 3B Russ Canzler (.277) had two hits and three RBI to lead the Clippers to victory in an International League game Wednesday in Toledo.

Rohlinger, 28, was playing in just his second game with Columbus since being promoted from Class AA Akron. He hit .227 at Akron with four homers and 23 RBI in 63 games.

Righty Chris Seddon (8-5, 3.66) went six innings for the win. He allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six.

AA Akron Aeros

Aeros 9, SeaWolves 2 Akron SS Juan Diaz (.247) drove in four runs, RF Thomas Neal (.309) had three hits and right-hander Paolo Espino (3-2, 3.40) threw seven strong innings as the Aeros won the Eastern League game in Erie, Pa.

Espino gave up two earned runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out five.

Advanced A Carolina Mudcats

Red Sox 12, Mudcats 3 Carolina 3B Giovanny Urshela (.275) hit his sixth homer of the year and drove in three runs as the Mudcats got thumped in a Carolina League game in Zebulon, N.C.

A Lake County Captains

Captains 6, Whitecaps 1 Seven of Lake County's nine batters had at least two hits and all but one batter had one hit, and the Captains won the Midwest League game in Comstock Park, Mich.

2B Jose Ramirez (.354) had three hits for Lake County.

Starting pitcher Joseph Colon (7-8, 3.01) got the win with five shutout innings. The right-hander allowed five hits and three walks while striking out six.

A Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Ironbirds 3, Scrappers 1 Aberdeen starter Juan Guzman gave up no runs in seven innings. and the Scrappers had little luck against the Ironbirds relievers as Mahoning Valley lost at home.

Independent Lake Erie Crushers

Crushers 8, Rippers 3 Lake Erie DH Russ Moldenhauer (.303) hit his fourth home run of the season and drove in five runs in the Crushers' Frontier League win in Avon.
