Shaquille O'Neal, like millions of Americans, has sleep apnea.

Shaquille O'Neal may have been a snore on the court this season, but his snoring at night was so loud that it kept his girlfriend awake.

But snoring, or sleep apnea, is more than just a nuisance to someone else. Sleep apnea is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition.

It's a breathing disorder characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep.
